Whitfield's Letters

When Whitfield Chase left his home in Otego, New York to journey across North America he left all of his family behind. At the time his only option for communicating with his far away relatives was through the sending and receiving of handwritten letters. Many of those letters survived after his death and eventually some of his descendants took it upon themselves to transcribe them. One of these individuals, Robin Reid, published the transcriptions online and they can be viewed by following this link: grrlbreaks.wixsite.com/chaseletters. The museum is also in possession of a bound, hardcopy of the complete transcription which can be perused by visitors.

For those interested in the Chase family history, the museum has family files which can be viewed by any visitor. There is also a Chase family tree being worked on which will include the many branches of his descendants and siblings.
